Feet.

I don't like feet.  In fact, they may be my least favourite body part.  Maybe it's because of my wonky toe - the baby toe on my left foot was born with the need to snuggle up tight to (actually, on top of) its neighbour. Mostly I forget that it's even different.  The exception is buying shoes - that's a little more difficult than it should be.

Oh, and there was that time when I was sleeping over at my friend Lorraine's house (I was probably 7 or 8 years old) and her mom told me that if I didn't put my toe back where it belonged then I'd have to go home.  Maybe Lorraine's mom has something to do with my disdain?

Until I was pregnant with Sheldon I didn't want anyone touching my feet much less looking at them.  But there was something about those crazy baby-making hormones that pushed me to get a pedicure and then I was a changed woman.  Just.  Like.  That.  Now a pedicure a few times a year has become a nice treat.

But still.  Feet?  Not necessarily my favourite.

And yet.

I was looking back at my Instagram photos recently and I noticed a pattern:  I take a lot of pictures of my feet.  A quick look through the photos on my computer confirmed it.  In fact, I take so many that my feet alone can pretty much tell you what has been going on my life for the past year.

Need proof?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you now:  2012.  In feet.

March:  March Break in Florida

June:  Juliana's post-gardening feet
(That's cheating, I suppose, since they aren't really mine,
but they are just so perfect.  Dirty and perfect)

July:  Camping trip - on the road

July:  Morning coffee on the back deck

August:  It's my soccer night

August:  It's Juliana's soccer night

August:  More camping

October:  Walking in the woods

November:  A bowling celebration for Juliana's birthday

November:  Finding Sheldon's lost phone in the middle of the field

December:  A relaxing evening at home

December 24th:  Christmas Eve skating with Santa

January:  A New Year's Day tobogganing with the kids

12 on 12.

February  :  Tuesday

01. After a snow day, a weekend, and my regular Monday off, it was really hard to get back into my early morning routine.  I'd already hit the snooze button once.  Now it was time to get up.
02. I stopped at Starbucks to pick up my breakfast and coffee before heading to the office.  Usually I bring oatmeal from home but I completely forgot it this morning.
03. A friend picked up a Valentine surprise for Juliana but it needed to be kept cold.  All day it sat in her cooler beside my desk.  I kept telling people that I was taking an organ home for transplant. :)
04. I have been walking past this ice rink for years and have only skated on it once.  I keep thinking that we should come down for a family skate one evening.
05. Boarding my train.
06. I found the remains of some peanut M&M's in my purse.  They are my candy of choice at the movie theatre and, for some reason, I had four left in the bag.
07. This solitary group of trees in the middle of a field is my reminder that my train is five minutes away from the station.
08. Filling up the tank.  Sixty dollars for just over half a tank.  So that's where my money goes....
09. Today is Pancake Day and when I arrived home Sheldon had already started the pancakes for dinner.
10. When I first caved to the idea of bringing drums into our house, I thought that I'd live to regret it.  But living with two drummers just gives us twice the number of opportunities to groove to the beat.  And it's awesome.
11. Pancake plates.
12. I want to create a small office/desk nook for me in our bedroom and so I spent some time before bed combing Pinterest for some inspiration.

He's trying.

After the debacle that was last month's 12 on 12, I loved this moment taken on this month's 12th day.  We were sitting at the table, having documented our pancake dinner when Sheldon said "Here. Take a picture" and he leaned into his plate.  This, I thought, is a great kid.  He makes me crazy at times but he IS a great kid.

Date night.

Tuesday night started with a walk across town in a beautiful, falling snow.

One of our local restaurants had 'Beau's and burger night'. These were not your regular burgers - Peter's was beef with cabbage, apples and a grainy mustard.  Mine was vegetarian - halibut and mahi mahi - with cucumbers and a pickled onion tartar sauce.  Ridiculously delicious!

And then we worked it all off on our (uphill!) snowy walk home.

Why don't we do this more often?
